Cohealth has installed security cameras covering the footpaths besides their building on Victoria and Therry streets  and also a camera covering the community garden.

The footpath leading from our Drill Hall resident entrance at number 30 to Elizabeth street is presently being widened where the roots of a tree makes access by wheelchairs difficult.
 
This follows repeated requests from residents for the last several years.
 
The realignment  will provide about an extra 30 cm of level path which should improve passage for wheelchair users.
 
There is still an issue with the corner of Elizabeth and Therry street where pedestrian congestion also makes access difficult.
 
Any feedback on the new alignment will be passed direct to Council.

UPDATE OF THE WORMS

The worm community has been  industriously converting copies of the seniors newspaper and CBD news into garden nourishment. The worms have asked residents to take a lot of leafs out of their collective books/newspapers, shred them to bits and deliver it to them. They promise to read and improve their knowledge of the world as they munch them up. We are always passing motions of course because worm life is really just like one long meeting really. We’re always getting bogged down in paper work. Anyway its a bit of a relief that our slogan is of course “No Bosses’. Enough juicy gossip now – watch this space.

Is the world’s number one liveable city really that livable?

 Is the world’s number one liveable city really that livable?

Many of its streets and pathways are blocked off or bottle necked with restrictions and diversions for construction work everywhere. Where do the ordinary, everyday needs of people come into this, i.e. this fabulous liveability?

It is often complete and utter mayhem, especially if you depend on a wheelchair. And if you are a resident, you suffer an unceasing and relentless intrusion of noise, dust and disrupted travel at all hours of day and night. 

And government policy? Let’s have more of the same apparently.

Where do community needs fit into all this?

Appeal to the council/government?

The chaos inside their offices is worse than that outside. No one takes responsibility – you are tossed back and forth from one office to another. 

Instead of bleating and boasting about liveability, perhaps it’s time for the politicians and bureaucrats to take a real walk through this town. They might become a little more liveable themselves!

Please help us find a way of ridding these “deplorable” conditions that the government has put on us and let’s make living and working conditions in the “City of Melbourne Great Again”.
